About The Financial Accounting and Reporting Section (FARS) of the American Accounting Association
Formed in 1993, the Financial Accounting and Reporting section (FARS) of the American Accounting Association aims to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of education, research, and professional practice in the financial accounting and reporting space. We achieve this objective by disseminating and evaluating teaching methods and materials; encouraging, facilitating, and publicizing research interests and projects; and creating opportunities for interchange and cooperation between academics and practitioners. FARS is a vibrant community of accounting academics who conduct cutting-edge research in the following areas: • Accounting standards • Financial reporting and disclosure • Corporate finance and corporate governance • Capital markets • Equity research and asset management • Securities regulation Currently maintained by the FARS Integrating Research and Practice committee, the FARS LinkedIn page strives to serve as an information platform for accounting academics and practitioners by: • Promoting dialogues between financial accounting and reporting academics and practitioners. • Disseminating FARS members' research, both published and working papers, that addresses practice-relevant questions. • Serving as the primary social media outlet for FARS announcements. • Posting research opportunities (e.g., call for papers, upcoming conferences and seminars) to keep our targeted audiences abreast of the latest trends in financial accounting and reporting research and practice. • Facilitating the networking between academics and practitioners. The FARS LinkedIn page regularly posts short, non-technical summaries, or recent media coverage, of current research by the vast FARS community. We encourage submissions through email to FARS.socialmedia@gmail.com. Summaries should be no more than 200 words and contain a link to the full text of the research article or the media coverage if available.
