We are The Flinders Ranges Council, four hours north of Adelaide economically, socially and geographically linked to the Upper Spencer Gulf via Port Augusta only 40 kms away. We are 1,600 people spread over 1,400 square kilometres. We are primary producers, light industrial suppliers, a services hub and we are increasingly known as a tourist destination. We are on the edge of the Mid North and at the start of the Outback and Far North. In recognising the history of our region, we respect the heritage and diversity of our past learned from our traditional landowners. The Flinders Ranges Council is a rural Council in northern South Australia. Located 300 km north of Adelaide, The Council area extends from Mount Brown Creek and Pichi Richi pass in the south to Arkaba in the north, a distance of over 100 kms. It takes in the western side of the Flinders Ranges to near Carrieton and Cradock in the East a distance of approximately 45 kms. In total it is 4,198 square kilometres of the magical Flinders Ranges. The townships of Quorn, Hawker and Cradock service the council area.
