About The Future Perfect Project
Vision: We envision a world where every LGBTQIA+ young person feels safe, seen, and celebrated in their home and community; a world where they are free to express their truth and are valued as harbingers of a better future for us all. Mission: The Future Perfect Project amplifies the voices of LGBTQIA+ youth by offering creative opportunities to make their own work, producing media projects by and about the youth we serve, and broadcasting a vision of a future only they can see. What Is “Queer”? “...’Queer’ as being about the self that is at odds with everything around it and that has to invent and create and find a place to speak and to thrive and to live.” - Bell Hooks At The Future Perfect Perfect, we use the word “Queer” as an umbrella term for the LGBTQIA+ alphabet, which includes anyone who feels marginalized due to their expression or the repression of their gender and sexual identities. FPP creates opportunities for queer youth to express themselves authentically and to make honest work in various artistic mediums. We then produce their work and broadcast it to a wider community, both online and in-person. Since 2017 we have facilitated free creative arts workshops with over a 100 groups of young people around the U.S. and online, and we have produced original writing, music, a podcast, a series of animated short films, an inter-generational interview series, live performances, and so much more.
