About The General Practitioner
The General Practitioner – Oakleigh & District at 139 Warrigal Road is a new medical clinic that will deliver a fresh approach to comprehensive general practice care to the individuals, families and community of Oakleigh and surrounding suburbs. Our practice at 139 Warrigal Road is the site of the former clinic ‘Oakleigh and District Health Centre’ established in 1972 and previously operated by Dr John Malios who is well known within the medical profession and particularly amongst the Greek speaking members of our community. Since 2003 the clinic has been supported by Dr Lakshmie Kariyawasam, who will continue to be a valued member of our team at The General Practitioner. The General Practitioner has a team of experienced specialist general practitioners who provide services in all areas of general practice and we are dedicated to providing comprehensive, quality and friendly care to our patients. Our doctors are multilingual and can conduct consultations in languages other than English, including Greek and Sinhala/Sinhalese. At The General Practitioner our aim is to create and maintain the feel of a local family practice, but with modern facilities and the latest health information technologies. Our clinic consists of a well-appointed waiting area, 3 consulting rooms and a treatment room with 2 treatment beds that can be utilised by our general practitioners and our practice nurse.
