About The Good Companions Seniors' Centre
The Good Companions is a non-profit multi-service seniors centre and community support services agency. For nearly 70 years, we have developed and delivered programs and services to enhance the social, cognitive, physical, and emotional health and well-being of older adults. We are proud to be a leading 2SLGBTQIA+ seniors centre. The community centre boasts of a craft room, woodworking room and an Adult Day Program. Adult Day Program is a therapeutic program for adults with early onset to mild Alzheimer's or Dementia or who are frail and elderly. for seniors who require minimal assistance with day-to-day activities. We provide a range of fitness, language and recreational classes. We enjoy hosting special events and offer daily hot meals and package frozen meals for those unable to come in-person for a meal. In addition to our in-person services, we offer Seniors' Centre Without Walls (SCWW). SCWW delivers programming to seniors over the phone. These phone sessions are led by a Facilitator and joined by a group of seniors from the comfort of their home. We play games, listen to music, and provide health and wellness presentations and much more! We are proud to offer our SCWW programs in English, French and Mandarin. SCWW is an engaging, stimulating and interactive program. A range of Community Support Services are offered, such as: telephone assurance calls, friendly visiting, medical transportation, grocery shopping support and handy helpers to assist with home maintenance. The Good Companions is grateful to our committed volunteers who range from brand new to over 40 years of service!
