About The Good Guides - Inner City Youth Mentoring
History of The Good Guides The Good Guides was founded during the COVID-19 pandemic to address the unique challenges faced by youth in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), including social isolation and economic hardship. Recognizing the need for a sustainable, grassroots solution, the organization was created to empower youth to lead change in their communities. The Good Guides has raised over $1 million, provided high school credits to over 250 students, and mentored over 1,000 youth, showcasing the power of trusting young people to design and implement programs that meet their needs. Philosophy of The Good Guides The Good Guides believes youth are the best-equipped to address the challenges they face. Traditional models often exclude youth voices, but The Good Guides empowers them to take the lead. By providing youth with the autonomy and resources to create and manage initiatives, we foster leadership and responsibility. Our approach allows young people to take ownership of their projects, creating lasting and relevant solutions for their communities. This empowerment builds confidence, self-worth, and a sense of purpose. Mission of The Good Guides The Good Guides aims to empower vulnerable youth by offering tools, mentorship, and opportunities that enable them to lead change in their communities. Our mission focuses on creating positive, long-term social change by strengthening communities through youth-driven initiatives. By fostering leadership, education, and mentorship, we equip young people with the skills needed to become agents of transformation, shaping a future where they drive positive change.
