About The Guitar Society of Toronto
The Guitar Society of Toronto, founded in 1956, is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting classical guitar music and concert performance. We have arranged performances from a number of globally renowned artists over the years, including Julian Bream, John Williams, David Russell, Manuel Barrueco, Leo Brouwer, Oscar Ghiglia, and Christopher Parkening. Each season we continue to bring artists from across Canada and around the world to perform in the heart of downtown Toronto. The Guitar Society is also deeply passionate about developing up-and-coming Canadian talent. Each year, scholarships are awarded to University of Toronto undergraduate and graduate students from the Ken Young and Ann & Eli Kassner scholarship funds. The Guitar Society also supports the University of Toronto's Guitar Ensemble, which has performed locally and at international festivals in Cuba and Martinique. 100% of the Guitar Society’s funding is secured through donors that share our passion for classical guitar.
