About The Harvard Salient

The Harvard Salient is Harvard’s undergraduate journal of conservative thought. We exist to defend and renew the university’s legacy of free inquiry, rigorous scholarship, and fearless debate—values now imperiled by the rise of ideological conformity on campus and in the broader culture. Founded in 1981, The Harvard Salient stands openly against the prevailing liberal orthodoxy that stifles dissent and hollows out the life of the mind. We offer an unflinching alternative: a commitment to truth, tradition, and the cultivation of moral and intellectual virtue. We publish essays, reporting, cultural commentary, and political philosophy written by Harvard students, faculty, and alumni for all readers who care about the future of our culture and our civilization. Each issue is printed and delivered to undergraduates and faculty across campus.
