About The Hertfordshire & Essex High School
Founded in 1909, The Hertfordshire & Essex High School is an outstanding non-selective secondary school for girls from Years 7 - 11 with a mixed Sixth Form in Years 12 and 13. There are currently over 1200 students. Our aim is to provide an all-round education; our staff work with great skill and dedication to provide enjoyable and challenging experiences that stretch our students’ learning. Our results consistently prove that we are able to secure the best academic outcomes. In 2016 we were ranked 6th in the country for GCSE results in The Telegraph non-selective schools table. However, we place as much emphasis on the broader measures of success: our students’ personal development, their confidence and their ability to find their place in the school and wider community. Herts & Essex’s six core values of compassion,creativity, independence, initiative, resilience and respect lie behind every aspect of school life. There is an extensive programme of extra curricular events, drama & musical performances and a diverse range of trips & visits at all stages.
