About The History Detectors
A duo of a teacher with over 20 years of experience as a Primary school teacher/SLT who specialised in History and Outdoor learning amongst other things and a designer / avid metal detectorist whose social media postings about metal detecting as a way to boost Mental Health aka ‘The Mental Detector’ led him to being contacted and endorsed by Crawfords Metal Detectors. Our combined expertise in each respective area has given rise to the idea of using Metal detecting to enrich the History National curriculum with practical and active learning. OUR OBJECTIVES * To bring history to life in a practical, scientific and fun way for children in schools. * To use artefacts for historical enquiry and to draw conclusions about different eras of British history. * To encourage children to take up/get involved with Metal detecting as a new hobby/way of life. * We provide curriculum enrichment by using real tools and artefacts that historians use / find whilst out in the field
