The Hope Chest Keepsake Jewelry Company was founded by a mother of a young child with autism. The concept for the company evolved because of the founder’s own desire to somehow outwardly express the HOPE she feels for those affected by autism. Initially, she started wearing a hope-inspired necklace of her own creation to signify the ongoing commitment between her and her afflicted child, (and to the possibility of his recovery). She thought that, perhaps providing a constant visual reminder, (by displaying the word “HOPE” front and center), it may reinforce a special message she wished to relay to her son - that she would never give up the fight to help him and that she had endless optimism that recovery from autism was possible. As a former jewelry designer (nearly 20 years and several careers ago), she often turned to jewelry making as a form of expression. She felt inspired by the triumphs found in confronting her son’s autism and it awakened her creativity once more. She started designing what she affectionately coined “journey necklaces” and shared them with other “ASD moms”. As word spread in her local autism community about the special necklaces, “The Hope Chest Keepsake Jewelry” was born.
