About The House of Hope Scotland
The House of Hope exists to help people in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. The House will be a haven away from the sterile hospital or clinical setting, where those impacted by breast cancer can be themselves in a safe space, while being offered connectivity, support, and friendship. Cancer is hard and takes its toll on you and those around you. We aim to nurture, improve the quality of life of our users, and enrich their emotional wellbeing by offering sanctuary and support within a home-like environment at a time when they need it most. To achieve this we: ➢ offer fully and part funded services to patients, family members and their children to help to reduce health inequalities. ➢ work in collaboration with the NHS, breast cancer service providers and other organisations providing services that will be of benefit to those impacted with breast cancer. ➢ have a team of trained professional class and workshop facilitators who will work closely with service users to provide tailored support. ➢ offer support, complimentary and counselling therapies to help those impacted by breast cancer navigate the challenges and emotional impact of the diagnosis. ➢ ensure that our service is person centred with the voice of the service user at the heart of The House. ➢ treat every service user, volunteer, fundraising and team member with kindness and respect. The NHS do not have the operational resources nor funding to provide additional care and support for breast cancer patients in and around Edinburgh. This is where The House of Hope fills the void within Edinburgh and the surrounding area.
