First-generation faculty and students face many of the same challenges including being unfamiliar with the new environment, difficulty accessing resources, and making networking connections for collaborative opportunities. The Intersection helps new faculty and students acclimate to our campus. For students we can help you: *Enhance knowledge about academic requirements and professional goals *Connect with first-generation faculty members *Pair with peer mentors who may have similar interests and experiences (TiPs Mentoring program) *Build college readiness skills *Locate and use campus and community services *Participate in national first-generation recognition activities For faculty we can help you: *Become familiar with the UNLV campus and the local Las Vegas community *Interpret university policies and procedures *Resolve student/faculty issues *Secure information and resources for faculty to aid students in personal distress (anxiety, depression, homelessness, food insecurity, etc.)
