About The Jerusalem Film and Television Initiative
Founded in 2008, The Jerusalem Film and TV Initiative, the first municipal film commission in Israel, is the proud supporter of numerous award-winning international co-productions. The initiative presents international film funding & incentive program, encouraging creative cinematic work bringing the city of Jerusalem to the big screen and to audiences throughout the world The Jerusalem Film and TV Initiative offers qualifying productions a slate of opportunities, including Cash investment of up to 1.6 million NIS (approximately $400,000), as well as other benefits and production support. The Initiative’s support will serve as a springboard for producers, directors, screenwriters and entrepreneurs in media fields for projects in which a significant part of the story takes place, and filmed in Jerusalem, attaining the initiative’s goals, and promoting Jerusalem as a city that is hospitable and amenable to filmmaking and film production. To date the Fund has invested in the development and production of 6 television series and 19 new films, all of which are set in Jerusalem. The Fund is working with the government to obtain benefits and special packages for international productions. Among its most recent successes are “Intimate Grammar” (Nir Bergman, 2010), ”The Human Resources Manager” (Eran Riklis, 2010), “Footnote” (Joseph Cedar, 2011), and many more.
