About The Jimmy McDaniels Foundation
Founded in 2009 in the memory of jazz great Jimmy McDaniels to award music scholarships to deserving local talent to Butler University in Indianapolis, IN and Miles College in Fairfield, Alabama and to continue to enrich these communities. In addition, the foundation has produced a traveling exhibition "The Leader of the Band" which depicts the musical contributions and life of Jimmy McDaniels. The exhibit premiered at the prestigious Irwin Library at Butler University August 15, 2009. Currently, the exhibit is a part of the Black History Month Collection at the Crispus Attucks Museum in Indianapolis, IN through February,
