About The JohnC Art Ballet

The JohnC Art Ballet embodies a truly American style of ballet. Through a daring use of space, freedom of movement, and artistic expression, we present a new, yet authentic treatment of classical ballet born of an unquenchable belief in the power of the human spirit. In the words of our founder: “Anything man-made can be had by anyone.” We believe that through passion and perseverance, anyone can become great—not only those born with the ideal “ballet body,” or “natural talent.” We honor individuality in all its forms, and bring the beauty of dance to any who desire to learn, experience, and ultimately express with it. Since 2002 we have operated as a 501(c)3 non-profit public charity under The Hartfel Foundation. Our outreach programs include the Step in the Dark dance program for blind and visually-impaired children. Our school, The Box Dance Studio, offers classes in ballet, hip-hop, jazz, and pre-ballet. We offer a warm and supportive learning environment. We are currenly looking for Senior Apprentices to perform and train with the company. We achieve our mission through the following programs: •Inspiring performances by The JohnC Art Ballet. •Our revolutionary teaching program, the Cradle Method, that makes a difficult art form accessible to all. •Vital body awareness and art-conscious services for the blind, hearing-impaired, wheel-chair bound, as well as the economically and socially challenged.
