About The Juniper Tree

I produce bold, vibrant prints of the countryside that surrounds me here in South West Scotland. I find inspiration for my designs all around me, from the Barnacle geese that fly down from Svalbard to spend every winter here, to the Belted Galloway cattle that graze in the fields next door. In my work I love to try and convey a realistic but simple representation of the animals I draw. In order to produce my prints, I make a line drawing of my subject, which I then hand-carve into hard rubber. This allows me to make simple stamps that I can use again and again. For my final designs, I digitize the printed images to create colourful repeating patterns.
