About The Leg Up Australia
The Leg Up Australia is the brain child of a true champions real child – Blake Johnston. Blake, or BJ, is the son of Malcolm Johnston (think Kingston Town, think 3 Cox Plates, think the 1982 Melbourne Cup… then stop thinking…) and has grown up following, living and breathing horse racing. Blake has worked for Sky Racing, Unibet, Ubet, TopBetta and managed to get the can from all of them – but to his credit has built solid relationships with the trainers, jockeys and race callers that ordinary punters don’t have access to day-to-day – UNTIL NOW! The Leg Up Australia will give punters access to the people and places that only those on the inside or in the business get, that way we can give you a LEG UP on the bookies and nab a few winners. Alongside Blake is AFL diehard Sam ‘Woodhead’ Wood. Sam had some skin in the AFL game a few years back, but his budding career hit the brakes with a (very) lengthy suspension involving his involvement in an old-fashioned Liverpool kiss. The big guy is a mad Pies fan (Collingwood, beef and/ or chicken curry) as well as co-owner of several racehorses and full-owner of a rig that is handy to have defending next to you on the footy field and not so handy when you split the bill after dinner. Sam’s official role is to provide AFL tips, and unofficially provides the lols. The last, and by far smallest, of the crew is Chris ‘Borgy’ Borg. A keen fisherman who DID play a season of league in Year 9 at St Agnes High School, Chris’s sporting claim to fame is holding an Australian National Sportfishing Association sub-junior record for a fish that would otherwise be considered bait – regardless, the record still stands some 18 years on. He also captained a back-to-back premiership winning park Oztag team, winning one GF the day after his bucks party - a tough gig. With this sort of ability, Chris was a no brainer to provide our weekly NRL tips.
