About The Life Initiative
The Life Initiative (TLI) provides capital to benefit low and moderate income people and communities. We seek to preserve and expand affordable and mixed income housing opportunities which allow access for lower income households to a high quality environment. TLI seeks to strengthen and help build healthy communities through investment in key community services including healthcare, education and childcare, support services, as well as employment opportunities. TLI takes a comprehensive approach to lending and investment, and believes providing flexible capital to our borrowers is one important component in revitalizing communities and alleviating poverty. The Life Initiative (TLI) is a $100 million dollar community investment fund created in 1999 by Massachusetts-based life insurance companies. TLI has invested over $500 million in affordable housing developments, commercial properties, businesses and community facilities in the last 10 years. We are a flexible lender, with a creative approach to lending and an efficient, streamlined process. Our loan officers build ongoing relationships with our borrowers, who are some of the most productive and well-respected non-profit and for profit developers and business owners in the state.
