About The Literary Girls
The Literary Girls is a females-only social and literary club welcoming readers of all ages, interests, and abilities. It was founded in 2011 by two sisters and a dear friend, as a means to create a safe, welcoming, and intimate space for book lovers to come together and share their passion for the written word. Ten years later, what started as a trio in a coffee shop has grown into a fully-fledged book club with more than 20 active members, and in the span of a decade we have had over 50 in-person book club meetings and explored more than 20 different genres. Inspired by the first word of revelation "Iqra!” i.e. read, our mission over the years has remained the same: to create a warm and welcoming space for seasoned book lovers and new readers to discuss books they love, to discover new titles and genres, and ultimately to inspire a reading culture in Jeddah for readers at all levels. It is our goal to revive the beautiful act of reading in all its endlessly beneficial and enlightening forms. Whether you’re a seasoned pro, a casual reader, or a literature newbie, our door is always open for you. Let us exercise ourselves intellectually, enlighten ourselves spiritually, and meet individuals who share the same love for books and a vigor for life. Come, sit with us!
