About the LOOM
The Loom is a platform designed to help bring together, either by accident or intent, various creative disciplines in order to generate inspirational spark and creative energy. As the name suggests, The Loom, as a wrapper brand, is founded on the idea of weaving collaborative paths across a spectrum of disciplines within the arts, applied design and creative philosophy. It is currently, and in initial form, made up of three key components: ArtsGuild, which embraces craft and creative expression in its various ways; DesignLab, a production network of applied design in 2D and 3D, and largely digital; Greymattr, focusing on creative thinking and debate, examining the theory, philosophy and ethics of creative design from both business and societal viewpoints. Traditionally and through much of the last century, there has existed a delineation of creative disciplines, as if they were independent components in themselves with a lack of cross-referencing. The same could be applied to the sciences and the arts. It is good that both of these situations are changing rapidly and The Loom is keen to help foster, encourage and accelerate this shift.
