About The M2M Project

The M2M Project is an initiative created to address a persistent service gap in New York City’s small business ecosystem. While early-stage startups benefit from a range of incubators, nonprofit programs, and public-sector support—and mature firms often have access to capital and institutional networks—growth-stage businesses are frequently left to scale without structured guidance or resources. This gap is especially pronounced for enterprises led by individuals from historically underserved communities. Without targeted support, many of these firms face operational constraints that limit their ability to grow, compete, and contribute meaningfully to local economies. Research suggests that addressing these barriers could unlock over 300,000 jobs and generate more than $63 billion in revenue for New York City—demonstrating both the economic and social return of investing in this overlooked segment. M2M delivers a two-part service model grounded in capacity building and systems development: (i) strategic and operational skills building so that entrepreneurs can organize and professionalize their businesses; and (ii) contract readiness education so that entrepreneurs understand how to navigate procurement processes and they pursue the right size opportunities. The goal of The M2M Project is to help foster strong businesses to advance economic development, job creation, and community wealth-building across New York City in historically underinvested communities.
