About The Marshall Institute for Ethical Thought & Action
To meet the unique challenges, issues, and concerns of today, young Americans must be prepared carefully to consider ethical problems and respond to them with solutions that are at once rigorous and creative. The Marshall Institute for Ethical Thought and Action was established in order to encourage and foster logical and ethical thinking in the American youth. Beginning at Manhattanville College, the Marshall Institute organized the yearly Regional High School Ethics Bowl held by the Manhattanville Philosophy Department. More recently, the Institute launched programs to enhance the Bowl. These include workshops for high school students, courses for high school teachers and principals, regular Intramural Ethics Bowls for college undergraduates, and internships for college students. In this new year, the Institute will organize new events and internships: a yearly Conference on concrete ethics for secondary school teachers and principals, college internships for High School Seniors, a Junior High School Ethics Bowl, and an International Ethics Bowl.
