A pharmacist-led medications management consultancy specialising in helping social care services develop/improve safe handling, administration and documentation of medication related practices and thus improve care. Sharan, the founder of 'The Medications Management Group' qualified as a pharmacist in 1999 and worked in various positions predominantly within Boots. Her love for turning around Care Homes developed during a privileged invitation to join the Care Services Team as a ‘Care Services Pharmacist’ within Boots. Here, she worked closely with store teams, surgeries and care homes improving adult social care medication management from all angles. Years of auditing (for Boots and the CCGs), advising, and working with the multiple stakeholders including GPs and nurses, produced a thirst to experience the practical hurdles care homes faced whilst wishing to improve medications management. Sharan commenced employment as a Medications Manager of a triple digit bed nursing care home and very soon, despite the many hurdles during COVID, was able to celebrate success with many special, selfless souls who worked tirelessly to help some of the most vulnerable in society. This leads us to today - Sharan is proud to be a INDEPENDENT Specialist Medicines Advisor to the Care Quality Commission and alongside this prestigious role, continues to fulfil her ambition in making medication management safer and more effective via 'The Medications Management Group'.
