Witnessing the tragic loss of American heritage in discarded stone structures fuels my commitment to preserving this legacy. I draw inspiration from the European artisans who migrated during the Industrial Revolution, mirroring their dedication to craftsmanship. Much of my work involves salvaging hand-cut stone from historic buildings like churches, chapels, and pre-1900 mansions. I meticulously quarry fossilized fieldstone and limestone, blending reclaimed materials with fresh ones for expansive projects. The Ohio River’s historical significance in trade and material transport resonates deeply with me. It’s a treasure trove of historical essence that I aim to capture and repurpose in my work. From salvaging bricks in deconstruction projects to preserving intricately hand-carved stone door surrounds and arches, I strive to ensure that future generations can appreciate the essence of past craftsmanship.
