About The Olive Branch for Children
MISSION: The Olive Branch for Children (TOBFC) is dedicated to transforming lives in rural Tanzania by disrupting the cycle of poverty. We equip families in the Mbeya Region with tools to enhance health, advance learning opportunities, and promote economic development. Our holistic programs are always guided by the communities we serve. We invest in people’s potential, nurture dignity, and empower communities to create generational change. We work with individuals to help them write their own stories of hope and opportunity, one family at a time. ABOUT US: The Olive Branch for Children is a non-governmental organization founded in 2005 by Deborah McCracken-Nangereke. TOBFC began by supporting six children and has grown to provide services for individuals at all ages and stages of life, including young children, pregnant mothers, students, families, the elderly, and vulnerable women and children. TOBFC offers integrated programs that respond to community needs and enable people to build dignified lives. Our services include education and academic support, community health care, food security and community supports, climate care, financial autonomy and social enterprise programs. Today, over 200,000 individuals are directly impacted every year by TOBFC’s work in more than 50 different communities in the Mbeya region of Tanzania. Our approach serves as a model for implementing community-based work that can grow, flourish, and succeed. TOBFC is committed to reducing poverty and enabling the future we want to see for our children and beyond. TOBFC is registered charity in Canada and Ireland and a registered NGO in Tanzania. In Germany, TOBFC is supported by Tunakujali Tansania e.V., an approved non-profit/charitable organization. TOBFC does all of its work in Mbarali District of the Mbeya region of western Tanzania, while its funds are raised by TOBFC’s Global Family of volunteer supporters located mostly in Canada, Ireland, and Germany.
