About The Pan-African Family Empowerment & Land Preservation Network

Among other things, the Pan-African Family Empowerment & Land Preservation Network, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping families of African descent preserve and maintain long-term ownership of their ancestral homes and land. Although founded in the federally recognized Gullah-Geechee Cultural Corridor of the United States, the mission and vision of the PAFEN is global in scope. We actively promote the Pan-African goals of creating strong, healthy, safe, educated, and economically stable Black families globally, while creating unity among African peoples both in Africa and the far-flung African Diaspora. Currently, we're best known for our popular "Help Save Gullah-Geechee Land Campaign," which has helped to save black-owned land in Beaufort, Colleton, Georgetown, and Horry counties in South Carolina--with an assessed value of more than $5.5-million. The "Help Save Gullah-Geechee Land Campaign" was launched by our Founder & CEO Theresa White in March 2015. It includes technical and referral assistance, as well as financial resources to prevent land-rich, but cash-poor Gullah-Geechee families from losing their beloved homes and land through delinquent tax sales and other methods.
