About The Peace Museum
A museum dedicated to telling the histories of peace movements. Since the museum was founded in 1994, it has been collecting items which tell the stories of peace in many different forms. Its 16,000 object collection is made up of banners, personal objects, campaign materials and artworks donated by people and organisations all over the world. The Peace Museum collects, safeguards and interprets artefacts relating to peace, in its many forms, for the benefit of all. By making the museum’s collection accessible, through exhibitions, education and community programmes, it endeavours to demonstrate the importance of this heritage and inspire visitors to consider peace as an active process that is a realistic alternative to violence. It is unique in that it is the only accredited museum of its kind in the UK.
