About The Perimeter

The Perimeter is a non-profit exhibition space for contemporary art in London, founded by Alexander V. Petalas. The exhibition programme is defined by The Perimeter’s objective to elevate British and international contemporary artists at pivotal moments in their careers. Housed in a quiet cobbled mews in historic Bloomsbury, The Perimeter offers visitors a uniquely intimate encounter with exceptional art by some of today’s leading and up-and-coming contemporary artists. Since opening in 2018, The Perimeter has staged solo exhibitions dedicated to Carmen Herrera, Sarah Lucas, Ron Nagle, Andreas Schulze, Anj Smith, and Joseph Yaeger, and curated organised group exhibitions in partnership with external curators, which have highlighted the work of artists including Phyllida Barlow, Rachel Jones, Helen Marten, Walter Price and Wolfgang Tillmans, among others. To support the creation of new work and ambitious exhibitions, The Perimeter frequently collaborates with international institutional partners to co-produce exhibitions and catalogues, and realise new artwork commissions. The Perimeter was renovated by 6a architects to transform the building into a bright, airy exhibition space, including a working archive, featuring thoughtful architectural details throughout that invite unique interactions with the artworks on display.
