About The Quest Center for Art & Community Development
The Quest Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit music education & youth development center located in Dickson TN. Our mission is to help build and strengthen community through music. We use music education to positively influence the lives of children living in rural, lower-income communities, many of whom 'are in desperate need of affordable after-school activities that make it easy to participate and be successful.' (Suzzi Peeler, former Teacher, White Bluff ES). Our programs help children develop essential skills - positive self-esteem, self-confidence, discipline, social skills, collaboration skills and creative thinking skills - skills that help them improve their chances for success in school and prepare them to successfully compete in the job market The Quest Center is a unique community resource whose operating model helps ensure that music education and its benefits are accessible to all children: -- we unconditionally serve children grades 4-12, including individuals living with disabilities -- we conduct classes at locations throughout the community, where children live and attend school, helping to reduce transportation issues -- we provide free use of instruments, both in-class and at home -- our programs are conducted year-round, often at times when children need structured activities most -- no child is turned away for financial reasons, but everyone is expected to contribute -- our students are expected to ‘give back,’ supporting school and community events & fundraisers.
