About The Reliability and Failure Analysis Laboratory at The University of Alabama in Huntsville
The University of Alabama Huntsville’s Reliability and Failure Analysis Lab (RFAL) is a multi-disciplinary organization providing our research customer base that includes both government and commercial clients’ access to the latest developments in the field of reliability. We are active participants in the ongoing effort within the DoD to minimize operational costs of their weapons systems through effective implementation of Reliability Centered Maintenance and Condition Based Maintenance. Our specialties include examining material properties of components that have reliability and safety implications due to the life extension of their current systems. Much of our commercial customers' focus is on verifying their delivered products meet or exceeds the stated standards for reliability and maintainability. The results of our analysis has had a positive impact on their designs resulting in cost effective design changes and optimization of vendor selection. The RFAL can perform testing that meets MIL-STD or ASTM standards and the flexibility of customized or customer specific requirements.
