About The Sisterhood

The Sisterhood is the first & only organisation in Indonesia that is founded and self-led by women refugees. Our mission is to unite women from all faiths and backgrounds in a safe space, to promote the rights, well-being, and leadership of refugee women survivors in Indonesia. We have been a lifeline for over 1,200 women refugees since 2018, increasing women's abilities to cope with crisis and instability while preparing for post-resettlement life. There are 4,000 women and girls in Indonesia who are refugees and seeking asylum. We live in limbo and uncertainty, without access to basic services or safe spaces. The Sisterhood is a foundation registered in Indonesia with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights under the name Yayasan Sisterhood Persaudaraan Perempuan (Nomor AHU-0007329.AH.01.04 Tahun 2023). We welcome partnerships & collaboration with organizations in Indonesia and worldwide who share our commitment to refugee women as survivors & leaders.
