About The Society for the History of Navy Medicine
The Society was founded to serve as a virtual space for "Community, Collaboration and Camaraderie" for all people who are interested in research, study and publication of all aspects of the history of naval medical establishments and the practice of medicine in the maritime environment. Our members include health care professionals both civilian and military, active and retired, academics and independent scholars, graduate students and those who just love a good sea story. The Society mounts an Annual Meeting and Papers Session, scheduled in 2010 to coincide with the 216th Annual Meeting of the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States, in Phoenix. The Society is a constituent society of the American Association for the History of Medicine.
