Philosophy At the Sport and Speed Institute, we offer the best Northern Virginia youth sports performance and speed training programs. Our strength is the ability to combine the science of training with the art of coaching. We believe the primary purpose of a coach is to put an athlete in the best position possible to succeed. The Sport and Speed Team knows how important a coach’s role can be, especially in the life of a young athlete, and believe coaches have a strong responsibility to foster athletic development, both mentally and physically. We take that responsibility seriously and care about the development of our athletes. Our Story The Sport and Speed Institute was founded on the belief that the core values of athletic competition - hard work, perseverance, dedication, discipline and teamwork - are values athletes carry with them on and off the field. At SSI, athletes achieve results through personalized, cutting edge programs delivered through quality coaching that is in keeping with our core values. Coach Kavanaugh's unique approach to training builds on his experience as both an elite athlete and an athlete who has endured a life-changing injury. SSI programs build strength, flexibility, speed, and teach proper bio-mechanics to increase performance and decrease chance of injury.
