About The STRIVE Initiative
About Us The STRIVE Initiative (Strengthening Tomorrow Requires Initiative & Vision Everyday) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Pottstown youth through culturally responsive mentorship and community engagement. Our mission is to cultivate positive perceptions and provide relatable mentorship to help students realize their academic and personal aspirations. Founded by Pottstown High School alumni David Charles and Anthony Lyon, STRIVE addresses the challenges faced by local youth by fostering connections between students and caring adults. We believe that by building strong relationships, we can inspire students to become independent, driven, and respected adults prepared to take control of their destiny. Our Programs * Created for Greatness: A mentoring program focusing on middle school students, aiming to build generations of activists connected to Pottstown mentors who provide guidance, support, and growth. * MultiMedia Career Exploration: Workshops that ignite students' creativity through music, podcasting, photography, and theater arts, shaping their future in exciting and interactive ways * World Mentor: Connecting Pottstown Middle School youth with minority professionals from diverse career and life experiences to broaden students' horizons and showcase successful role models. * Community Conversations: A series of events hosted by STRIVE to engage the community in dialogues that facilitate connections and bring about positive change. Our Impact * Mentors and Volunteers: 25 * Students Reached: 225 * Active Programs: 4 Through our programs, we've seen students develop lasting relationships with caring adults, enhance community connections, and build self-confidence. Our efforts are changing the lives of young people in Pottstown now.
