OUR VISION Proper annual background checks required on all workers sent to peoples’ homes. -Public Awareness - Protect Your Family, Protect Your Business. -Educate consumers & employers on the moral & legal obligation for criminal background checks on all workers entering consumers’ homes or working with the vulnerable populations. -Advocate for consumer safety legislation at local, state, & federal levels. -CAUSE Certification – A program designed to better protect safety-conscious consumers by offering a means of hiring safer workers. ABOUT US August 27, 2001, Sue Weaver was brutally raped and beaten to death by a twice convicted sex-offender hired to do service work in her home. Sue had contracted with a major department store to have the air ducts in her home cleaned. Burdine's did not conduct criminal background checks on those workers they sent into their clients' homes. Sue's life is over. Had a criminal background check been done, Sue might still be alive today.The Sue Weaver CAUSE was created to promote Consumer Awareness of Unsafe Service Employment. CAUSE, is proactively keeping your family safe by preventing tragedies, one service worker at a time through CAUSE Certification.
