About The Sunlight Centre

The Sunlight Centre provides free access to crisis counselling to those that are at risk and/or adversely affected by suicidal thoughts and self-harm behaviour. Clients can self-refer and do not need a mental health plan. Call 1300 259 724 for more information, or to arrange an appointment. We aim to directly impact on reducing Queensland’s high suicide statistics; currently 9 people each day take their lives & that suicide is the biggest preventable death rate of under 18s last year noting 75% of all suicides are male. We also aim to significantly reduce the stigma around suicide, especially self-harm through the raising of awareness, early education & intervention & direct support services across our community. Educate: Through research and awareness initiatives we strive to educate the community about the importance of mental health and self-care The Sunlight Centre’s therapeutic plan follows Three Stages: 1) Psycho-education – bringing awareness and coping mechanisms to the community 2) Action – Free one to one therapy sessions for people in crises 3) Follow-up – Group support for clients and families that have gone through therapy at the Sunlight Centre
