The Tawoos Initiative aims to support and present independent artists of South Asian origin and the music of South Asia to Canadian audiences. The focus of The Tawoos Initiative is to promote world music and connect it with the urban Canadian music scene. Its mission is to foster a greater understanding and appreciation of the contribution that South Asian music has made to world music and heritage. Through education and collaboration, the Initiative will foster dialogue and promote tolerance and mutual understanding among people. Music transcends culture and geographical boundaries, and the Tawoos Initiative hopes to do the same- connecting international and domestic artists from multidisciplinary music backgrounds together to create a new and vibrant sound for the new generation of music listeners.
