The Thelmas are committed to telling intersectional stories that are rarely represented. We make thought-provoking, irreverent and complex work that bridges the gap between the political and the mainstream. Explicitly feminist in our ideology, but confounding the title of ‘Feminist Theatre’, at the heart of our work is the idea that female-led work should exist on its own merits, and not be seen as somehow niche. Our vision is for an industry and society that values women artists and the stories they have to tell. We want a theatre that is engaged with its community; exploring the social, political and cultural stories that matter to them in a fresh and surprising way.
