The Thoracic Society of Australia commenced in 1961 with New Zealand joining forces to form the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand in 1988. TSANZ aims to improve knowledge and understanding of lung disease, to prevent respiratory illness through research and health promotion, and to improve health care for people with respiratory disorders.
