About The Turning Point
The Turning Point was started by Ben and Tanya McCarthy in July 2013. They have both been involved in education in South Africa for the past 18 years and have seen the need for Educational and Emotional Support for children. At The Turning Point, every child is treated as an individual and given the time and attention they deserve. When learning problems go undetected, children develop feelings of hopelessness, and as they become increasingly aware of their 'failure' and lack of achievement, they go into a downward spiral and are eventually labelled as 'lazy' or 'problem' children. Emotional problems that develop in children with learning difficulties can be more debilitating than the learning difficulty itself.
