About The UNITE Foundation
The UNITE Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the health and development of West African Youth. The organization was founded in 2008 by four Returned Peace Corps Volunteers who were inspired by their experience organizing an educational youth summer camp in the small, West African nation of Togo, called Camp UNITE. Each year, The UNITE Foundation provides a "Life Skills" grant to Camp UNITE, helping to ensure the sustainability of one of Togo's most unique youth development programs. During the summer months, nearly 200 young people from across Togo participate in Camp UNITE. The camp combines interactive classroom sessions on topics such as Communication, Reproductive Health and Income-Generating Activities with low-ropes challenges that teach self-confidence, leadership skills and teamwork. These are "life skills" left out of the educational curriculum, but which are essential to successfully navigating the challenges of growing up in a developing country.
