The UT Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies (CREEES) is a National Resource Center for Russian and East European Studies as designated by the U.S. Department of Education for 1988–2010, 2014–2018, and 2018–2022. CREEES has also been awarded funds for Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships for those years. The Center, formerly Post-Soviet and East European Studies, was established at The University of Texas at Austin in 1984, and now includes over 60 faculty members from over 20 different departments and administrative units across campus.
