About The USM Free Press
The Free Press is the official student newspaper of the University of Southern Maine. Our mission is to be the definitive source of news and commentary for the USM community. We are funded by advertising sales and through a student activity fee. The Free Press reaches an estimated 10,000 students of USM, their friends and families on the Portland, Gorham and Lewiston-Auburn campuses as well as in the greater Portland and Lewiston-Auburn communities. The Free Press publishes on Mondays throughout the Fall and Spring semesters — approximately 22 issues per year. Each issue has a circulation of 3,000 copies and is distributed to over 55 locations on Portland and Gorham campus as well as at Lewiston-Auburn College and within the surrounding communities. We also publish daily online.
