About The Vetiver Network International
🌿 Welcome to The Vetiver Network International (TVNI) As a global network, TVNI is dedicated to promoting, developing, and sharing knowledge related to Vetiver Grass Technology (VGT). Our mission is to facilitate the widespread adoption of VGT or Vetiver System:multipurpose, climate-smart, and low-cost eco-engineering applications. These applications extend to various aspects of soil, water, and landscape management, including infrastructure (slope) protection, making that VGT provides scalable, accessible and sustainable solutions. Our network is a dynamic hub, bringing together a diverse community of users, researchers, and providers of plants and advice, committed to advancing the principles and economically and ecologically high-value applications of VGT, to address environmental challenges. 🌱About Vetiver grass Vetiver grass (Chrysopogon Zizanioides) is a resilient grass, with an ability to tolerate extreme climatic and soil conditions and absorb (and break down) contaminants. This underscores its adaptability and effectiveness in diverse landscapes. ❗️How our Community applies the Vetiver System Main fields of application: 🌾 Agricultural uses - soil and water conservation, pest control, cutting leaves for mulch, forage; for numerous smallholder farmers the technology has proven to be the most simple and cost-effective method to control runoff and reduce poverty 🌍 Infrastructure slope protection & restoration - along highways, railways, waterways (riverbanks, canals, levees & drains, dams and ponds), dikes, bridges, building sites, preventing landslides and mitigating flood damage 🦠 Phytoremediation - decontamination of polluted water and soil: sewage, industrial wastewater, agriculture/aquaculture water, mines and landfills 👥 Socio-economic uses - Handicrafts, roof thatch, aromatic and medicinal oil production. 🤝 We are always open to collaborate in any of these fields, feel free to contact us on LinkedIn❗️
