About The Village Agricultural Cooperative

Founded in 2019, The Village Ag Coop supports over 200 recent immigrant families from 25 countries to grow food, increase local supply chains, and encourage business growth. The mission of the Village Agricultural Cooperative is to connect people with land, provide education and resources, and grow the food producers of tomorrow. We have grown from local organizations who care about clean, healthy food and environmental justice, and are invested in racial justice initiatives at the local level. Together we're working to bring underrepresented communities into the local farming economy through urban and semi-rural agriculture while utilizing sustainable agricultural practices. We operate a farmer's market hub at the History Center of Olmsted County during seasonal months and in coordination with Renewing the Countryside and the US. Dept. of Ag, we are building an aggregate hub, a pathway into local businesses. We are actively increasing and strengthening our local food supply chain, particularly for Rochester's people of color, who make up 20% of the city's population. Our future goals include owning our own farm, helping our farmers connect with their own land, enabling commercial kitchen so that we can completely utilize our local food production either through preservation and regeneration. As a young nonprofit, we are greatly in need of sustaining donors and grants to grow our organization and actualize our mission.
