About The Watercress Line
Whether you are taking a trip down memory lane or creating new ones, it’s the perfect way to unwind and experience the nostalgic sights, sounds and smells of steam travel from a bygone age. Fares give you all day travel, so you can visit all four stations with period charm and explore these historic towns. Watch the world go by at the peaceful country station of Medstead & Four Marks and enjoy a run around at Ropley station with its elevated picnic area and the famous Kings Cross Bridge which featured in the Harry Potter films. Here you can also investigate the impressive engineering sheds and see preservation in action. The Watercress Line have fantastic special events throughout the year, including: a Day Out With Thomas, War on the Line, Santa Specials and Christmas Leave, along with spectacular Steam Galas and much more! There are pre-bookable real ale and fine dining trains and now a NEW Gin Train! Did you know that the Mid Hants Railway 'Watercress Line' is reliant on volunteers and is a registered charity? Volunteers are the backbone of the Mid Hants Railway, without them there would be no trains running, no coaches to sit in, no stations to wait at and no track to run on. There’s a surprising variety of volunteer roles, it’s not all just engineering and locomotives. Whether you have existing skills or you would like to do something totally different, we also have requirements in education, catering, retail, building, carpentry, customer services and even horticulture. Volunteering is a great way to make new friends, improve your CV, learn new skills and help a great cause. So whether you are looking to help out at one of our stations, work with the public or get up close and personal with our engines, we have the perfect volunteer role for you! www.watercressline.co.uk/volunteer
