Situated in a renovated 1920s farmhouse, The Captain’s Pour House embodies the natural beauty of the region, and pays tribute to the man who saw great potential in the New Buffalo area. Captain Wessel Whittaker’s story is told throughout the restaurant, with history incorporated in menu items, decor and the walls of the clubhouse. As one of the region’s original settlers, Captain Whittaker was captivated by the unique landscape of the coastal area, making it his home shortly after arriving. The O’Brien family was similarly charmed by the natural beauty of the area when they opened up the golf club not far from Captain Whittaker’s landing spot in 1996.
