About The Wyvern Institute of Psychotherapy & Counselling
The Wyvern Institute (a Registered Training Establishment (RTE) of the UK Association for Transactional Analysis) is based in Bristol, the heart of Wessex. We provide a range of training events, from a 4-year programme preparing students to qualify as transactional analysis (TA) psychotherapists, to one- and two-day workshops designed for people from professions beyond the field of psychotherapy. Our short (2-hour) workshops are regularly well-attended by people working in roles demanding effective communication and management of professional relationships. We've delivered these workshops on-site for organisations seeking specialist training in areas of mental health, such as understanding neurodiversity. The 2-day TA101 Introduction to TA Workshop provides a good overview of the core theories of TA and how they can be applied in daily life. Students on our 1-year Foundation Course in TA gain a deeper understanding of the core TA theories and models, and spend more time learning how they can make practical use of this learning. Foundation Course students apply the course content in a wide range of organisations and working environments, such as schools, businesses, and medical establishments. Some Foundation Course students go on to pursue further training as a TA psychotherapist. The 3-year Advance (Clinical) Course in TA is designed for students who have completed our Foundation Course and want to qualify as a practitioner. This 3-year programme prepares students to enter clinical practice and to enter the examination process to qualify as a Certified Transactional Analyst and, along with that, to gain accreditation as a Psychotherapist from the UK Council for Psychotherapy. Transactional analysis is a wonderfully adaptable body of psychotherapy theories and models that are readily applicable to any environment where effective personal interaction is key.
