About Thermaspray (Pty)
Thermaspray offers a full range of thermal spray coatings, Plasma Transferred Arc (PTA), laser cladding, finishing, grinding, machining and burnishing services to customers throughout South Africa. Thermaspray is also the official supplier and applicator of Teflon™ coatings in Southern Africa. The company was established following the commercialisation of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research’s (CSIR’s) Thermal Spray and Repair Group. During the late 1990s, our development and use of technology, innovation and people was acknowledged by Technology Top 100 earning us inclusion on their Roll of Honour. Thermaspray leads the field in providing advanced thermal spray coating technology solutions based on the following processes: • High Velocity Oxy-Fuel (HVOF) (Sulzer Metco Diamond Jet 2700) • High-Pressure High Velocity Oxy-Fuel (HP-HVOF) (TAFA JP5000) • Plasma Spray (Sulzer Metco 9M) • Electric Arc Spray (Sulzer Metco Smart-Arc) • Combustion Wire Spray (Sulzer Metco 5K) • Powder Flame Spray (Sulzer Metco 5P/6P) • Spray & Fuse All spraying is performed using 6-axis robotic gun manipulation to ensure absolute process control and repeatability. Thermaspray's plant and machinery include two overhead cranes with 2.5 ton and 6 ton capacities; part handling manipulators; 5 spray booths and 1 laser cladding booth with 6-axis robotic gun manipulation - and 2-metre swing, top-loading turntables capable of rotating components with a wide variety of sizes and weights of up to 2-tons. DQS ISO 9001:2015 and SAIW ISO 3834-2 Quality Management Systems certification.
